ABOUT THE PLAY: Four well-meaning teaching artists set out to create the perfectly culturally sensitive Thanksgiving pageant. They are determined to get everything right. There's just one little problem... They keep getting everything spectacularly wrong. The Thanksgiving Play is a sharp, absurd comedy about good intentions, cultural assumptions, and the uncomfortable gap between wanting to do the right thing and actually understanding the impact of what we do. It's smart. It's ridiculous. It's uncomfortable. And it's very, very funny. And yes... there may be puppets. There may be questionable historical reenactments. There may be people crawling around on the floor. There will definitely be Thanksgiving!

🎭 THE ROLES:
LOGAN — Female-presenting
An earnest high-school drama teacher who desperately wants to prove herself and isn't afraid to push boundaries.
JAXTON — Male-presenting
A confident yoga practitioner and aspiring actor who is politically correct to a fault—and occasionally takes his logic somewhere wonderfully strange.
ALICIA — Female-presenting
A beautiful, confident, assertive actress from Los Angeles who is completely without guile and knows exactly what she wants.
CADEN — Male-presenting
An awkward elementary-school history teacher with a passion for theatre and a very serious commitment to historical accuracy.
Age ranges are flexible. Per the playwright's casting note, people of color who can pass as white should be considered for all roles. Actors of all backgrounds are encouraged to audition.
🤸♂️ BE PREPARED TO PLAY!
This is physical comedy. Depending on the scene and our rehearsal process, actors may crawl, jump, hug, climb, engage in physical comedy or stage combat, and generally find themselves in situations they never imagined when they decided to do a Thanksgiving play.
You do NOT need to be a dancer, gymnast, or physical-comedy expert.
What matters is being willing to play, collaborate, take direction, and try something unexpected.
Physical comedy, contact, intimacy, and stage combat will always be developed with actor safety and clear boundaries as priorities.
🎬 WHAT TO EXPECT
No monologue. No memorization.
Auditions will include:
·Readings from the play
·Improvisation
·Physical/character exercises
·Partner and group work
·Some singing
You don't have to be a great singer.
You just have to be willing to commit.

❤️ A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR:
I'm looking for actors who are curious, collaborative, willing to take a risk, and willing to play.
You don't need to walk into the room with the "perfect" interpretation of a character.
Come curious.
Come ready to play.
Come ready to laugh.

Leave your dignity at the door.
We'll give it back when rehearsal is over.
